Just a little message from me to you
Arlene,
I love you.
You found Ellie. Now you’ve found my little secret: a message just for you, to tell you how much I love you.
I know I don’t always stop and say it properly. There’s always another job, another idea, another thing I’m trying to finish. But underneath all of that, there is you. My beautiful wife. The person I want beside me at the end of every day.
None of this would mean the same without you. The business, the things we’ve done, the people we’ve helped—all of it is part of the life we’ve built together. But you don’t have to do a single thing or look after a single person to deserve my love. I love you for being you.
You’ve spent so much of your life caring for others. I see your kindness, your patience and the things you do that nobody else notices. I’m proud of you, Arlene. Not just proud to call you my wife—proud of the wonderful woman you are.
And after all those years in psychiatric nursing, you ended up putting up with me. You probably thought you’d retired from the difficult cases. Sorry about that, darling.
Since Gretna Green in 1999, we’ve shared the lovely days and the hard ones. Thank you for standing beside me, for the laughter, for our family, and for making a life with me. I wouldn’t swap you or what we have for anything.
Whenever you need to hear it, come back here.
You are loved. You mean the world to me.
I love you, Arlene. I always will.
These photographs are little pieces of our life. When you look at them, I hope you remember the moments behind them, the people we love, and our lovely Ellie being part of it all. Most of all, I hope you feel how much you mean to me.
And if a day ever comes when I’m not beside you to say it, let this little message say it for me. You have been loved, deeply and completely, by your daft Yorkshireman. That is what I want you to remember.
We’ve been through a lot together, darling, and even building this website has become another little chapter in our story. We were alive when the first man walked on the moon. Now here we are, watching technology move beyond anything we could once have imagined—and using it to put our memories together.
We’ve got to embrace these new things, haven’t we? But no robot could ever replace what we have. Technology has helped me put these words on a page; the feelings behind them are mine. Every word about loving you comes from me.
Darling, I love you. And I will always love you. Whatever changes in the world, that doesn’t.
Tonight, after all these hours working on the website, the best part isn’t finishing it. It’s coming to bed and cuddling my wife.
All my love, always.
Your Steve xxx

Our memories, darling

You and me, Arlene. Always. ❤️
