Space Oddity was already six years old when its 1975 reissue gave David Bowie his first UK Number 1.
David Bowie released Space Oddity in 1969 and reached Number 5—but Major Tom had to wait for lift-off. Reissued in 1975, the song finally topped the UK chart and became Bowie’s first British Number 1.
Six years from launch to the summit. Not bad for a song that still sounds as if it arrived from another planet. 🚀🎵
