Andrew Carnegie was born in a rented half of this small weaverâs cottage on Moodie Street, Dunfermline, on 25 November 1835.
The cottage itself dates from around 1750. Carnegieâs wife, Louise, bought it in 1895; it opened to visitors in 1908, and the adjoining museum hall followed in 1928. From one modest Fife home came a legacy that reached libraries, education and culture across the world. đ§”
