In 1662, twelve people—eleven women and one man—were accused during the Crook of Devon witch trials. Kinross Museum records that eleven were found guilty and executed at Lamblaires.
Centuries later, the Witches Maze at Tullibole Castle was created as a memorial to that injustice. Its monument was unveiled in 2012, marking 350 years since the trials and remembering the eleven innocent lives lost.
