A personal thank-you from Steve

A lovely man. An amazing friend.
Someone who has always had my back.
- Jeff, I’m not someone who finds it easy to let people in. But you’re the person I always know I can speak to, and you will listen. For help, for advice, or simply an ear—you’re there. You might be on the other side of the Atlantic, but you’ve never felt far away when it matters.
- My best online mate. My brother from another mother. Thank you for being my friend.
Everybody deserves a Jeff Brunner.
- Trustworthy, kind, polite, knowledgeable—and a man who loves his family. Jeff, you’re one of those people who reminds me that genuinely good, kind-hearted people exist. Arlene and I love you to bits.
- We found each other online, but this friendship became part of our real lives. Of everything the internet has brought me, finding you is one of the things I treasure most. We’ve met, shared adventures, and made memories that no screen could ever contain. You’re my best online mate, and so much more than that.
Jeff, you’re an incredible man and an amazing friend. We can go weeks, sometimes months, without speaking—and when I come along asking for help, you still listen. You still make time. You still have my back.
- I don’t say it enough: thank you. For your kindness, your patience, your friendship and all the times you’ve been there. This little corner of the internet is for you, brother. From me and Arlene, with love.
Jeff, this one’s for you
Thank You for Being a Friend

- One bridge. A world of memories.

- One of the greatest guys I know, in a place full of memories.
- Our friendship goes back to those early internet days in the 1990s. Me in Scotland, you in Oklahoma: two people discovering that distance didn’t have to stop a friendship. We had no idea then that we would eventually meet in person. Call it fate, call it good fortune. Whatever it was, I’m glad our paths crossed.
- Officially, you came over to buy an industrial printer. I like to think it was a very good excuse to come and visit us—and you ended up helping me with a massive project and breaking records with me at the home of golf, St Andrews. But that’s another story! That says so much about you, Jeff. You always make time to help.

- And alongside you is your wonderful wife, Vicki. Sending love to you both, and to Dustin, Matthew and Miles, from me and Arlene. Your family is part of the story I’ve been privileged to follow over all these years.
- I think about our days playing Hearts on Pogo. It was incredible enough to speak to someone across the Atlantic, never mind play a live game together. What felt extraordinary then became part of everyday life. Look at it now. Absolutely bonkers.
- We’ve lived a lot of life since then, seen all sorts of things, and watched the world change around us. But some things matter just as much as they always did. Friendship. Loyalty. Being able to look back and say, “You remember that, don’t you?”
The years, the laughs, the memories
Here’s to us, brother.

I love you to bits, brother.
Thirty years of technology could never replace an old friend.
- Over these past 58 hours, I’ve been pouring my experience and ideas into a new website for our business. Modern technology has helped me do things I once could only imagine. And as I looked at what we’d made, I thought of you.
- It felt only fitting to bring you into the story. Not just because we were discovering all this together back then, but because you’re important to me now.
- I’ve followed your children growing up, and now we’re both grandparents. From younger men full of energy and ideas to a pair getting a little achier and creakier—but still curious, still learning, and still finding things to laugh about.
- You’re a man of many talents: your working life in printing, including your work at Comgraphx, your love of playing guitar, and those old cars you bring back to life. Half the time I can’t keep up with what you’re restoring next. You’ve always had that instinct to make things work and make them better.
- Sometimes I feel guilty that I’ve called on you for help, and there you’ve been again. Please know I don’t take that for granted. You’ve got my back, and I’ve got yours. That is what brothers do, whether or not they share a surname.
- You’ve helped me, Jeff, and I’ll always help you. You’re a brother to me and a kind man. Over these thirty years, we’ve tried to use the internet in the same spirit: sensibly, kindly, and to do something worthwhile.
- We were there in those early days, discovering what the internet could become. Even at our tender age, there’s still more to learn. Building this website has reminded me that knowledge, experience and understanding matter as much as ever when new technology comes along.
- The tools are remarkable, but so is the responsibility that comes with them. Used carelessly, or with the intention of exploiting others, the internet can do real harm. I’m proud that our friendship has always been about helping each other. That’s the spirit I want to carry into whatever comes next.
The Broken Arrow–Kinross friendship department
Still connected. Slightly creakier.
From Hearts to heart
We logged on for a game. Somehow I came away with a brother. Best thing the internet ever delivered.
Broken Arrow, unbroken friendship
You’ve got the Rose District. We’ve got Scottish weather. You may have won that particular round.
Vintage, not obsolete
Guitars, old cars, printers—and the occasional Scots-based Yorkshireman in need of assistance. You’ve a gift for keeping things going, Jeff.
Friendship status: connected since the 1990s.
No subscription. No expiry date. Occasional dodgy knees.
We need a proper catch-up, Jeff. There’s a lot to remember, a lot to laugh about, and probably another world-changing bit of technology arriving before we finish the conversation.
Thank you for your friendship. I’m glad that bloke from Oklahoma found his way to Scotland.
Love you, brother.
Steve
